Lucius Artorius Castus was the origin for the legend of King Arthur, and a military leader from Britannia, a province of the Roman Empire that would later become England and Wales. Lucius lived in the second century A.D.

Appearance[]

Lucius was a caucasian man, likely of Roman and Celtic descent, who wore a red cape, a helmet with a red plume, and Roman armor, and wielded what appears to be a Roman Spatha.

Background[]

Lucius is credited with the defeat of the Saxons, a tribe originating in northern Germany, although the Saxons would later supplant the Romans and Celts living in England as the dominant ethnic group, long after his death. At the time of the story's beginning, he is revered for his deeds by the Welsh people as a folk hero.

Lucius Artorius Castus is the ancestor of Askeladd through his mother, Lydia
